Lighting the Xmas Tree !
Ok, so the decorations and lights are Up ! We have an eclectic collection of ornaments spanning several theistic symbols including Hindu, Islam and Christian. This also behooves me to address one of my pet peeves, something that has bothered me lately. This whole thing about the War on Christmas, and put the Christ back in Christmas etc. On CNN, Sam Seder rightly told Bob Knight (of Culture and Family Institute), that this whole War on Christmas is another red herring, a fake war contrived to do fund-raising from among the Religious Right!In that spirit, I appropriate this pagan ritual, this celebration of Winter Solstice in the name of the Hindus. So Come all ye faithful, to you I wish a Merry Krishnamas, and Happy new year. As they say put the Krishna in the Krishnamas ! Aalaikum Salaam my friend !

I heard the bit on NPR about this very topic, you know, the whole bogus "war on Christmas". They too made the point about the whole Christmas celebration being a reformatting (hijacking?) of the Pagan solstice celebration. So Christians really have no business talking about "restoring the original meaning of Christmas". Ha! (By the way, I really think you would dig our church... http://eruuf.org/ . Your church sounds like a nice inclusive one. Maybe I will visit it some day with my family.
